It's an exciting time to join Wickes as we build a new recruitment team and move to a centralised model for our stores, where we can support our ambitious growth plans and drive our expansion from 228 to 300 stores by 2030.

We are looking for a Senior Recruitment Business Partner who excels at both strategic business partnering and people leadership? Do you thrive in fast-paced retail environments where you can influence senior leaders, shape regional people strategies, and lead an exceptional candidate experience?
This role is an opportunity to lead a small recruitment team, help shape the talent strategy, and make a visible impact on the future growth of Wickes.

The Role
We are looking for a Senior Recruitment Business Partner to lead a divisional retail recruitment team. You will take full accountability for divisional recruitment delivery, translating workforce demand plans into actionable sourcing strategies. You will be leading a dedicated team (Recruitment Business Partner and a Recruitment Advisor), with a focus on proactive sourcing, creating an exceptional candidate experience and partnering with Regional leaders to support our business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and execute the divisional recruitment strategy for Store Operations. You’ll manage the end-to-end lifecycle for Store Manager vacancies while overseeing the team's delivery across BAU, Design Consultants, Assistant Manager and colleague roles.
  • Providing direct management, coaching and performance development to your direct reports, and setting high recruitment standards across the division.
  • Partnering with Central Operations and Data Leads to align recruitment activity with workforce demand plans, actively mapping internal succession pipelines and identifying external talent trends.
  • Build strong relationships with Regional Leaders, Divisional Directors, and HRBPs, providing data-driven reporting and strategic talent insights to influence regional people strategies.
  • Championing the candidate journey ensures a seamless, professional, and supportive experience from initial attraction to onboarding.
  • Driving operational excellence against key SLAs and KPIs (Time to Offer, Quality of Hire, Cost per Hire), while maintaining compliance with employment law, Right to Work, and GDPR.
About You
You will need to be a resilient, data focussed, and highly influential recruitment leader who can operate at a fast pace maintaining attention to detail and focus on candidates and stakeholders.

  • You’ll be an experienced senior talent acquisition partner with either in-house or agency experience, with a track record in developing and managing team performance and coaching.
  • Experience in recruiting leadership for retail multi-site operations or specialised, high-value sales roles would be beneficial - you will be comfortable leading the team but involved in ‘hands-on’ delivery too.
  • You’ll have expertise in proactive search, engaging passive talent, and utilising data and market analysis.
  • The ability to confidently collaborate with and influence senior stakeholders, such as Regional Leaders and and other key stakeholders across the business
  • Proficient in overseeing complete, end-to-end recruitment projects and leveraging data storytelling to inform business decisions.
  • You will also have a strong understanding of Applicant Tracking System (ATS) optimisation and employer branding.
What we can offer you
We offer flexible hybrid working with a base location of our Watford Support Centre, and the role requires a minimum of 2 days onsite team working.

You’ll be supported with fantastic learning and development and have the opportunity to grow and develop your career with us. We’ll also equip you with a benefits package that includes:
  • A competitive package to include an annual bonus of up to 15%
  • 25 Days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Contributory Pension and Life Assurance
  • Save-as-you-earn scheme
  • 20% Colleague discount
Other financial and wellbeing benefits include: Cashback health scheme, Cycle to work, Life assurance, Peppy, Aviva Digital GP, Financial Education & loans, Discount platform including savings and cash back at numerous retailers, savings on gym membership.

We aim to create an inclusive workplace with colleagues’ wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
