We’ve created an exciting new role within our Sustainability team as a Sustainability Data Manager. This role is all about helping us to achieve our ESG targets and sustainability ambitions. It will support Wickes’ journey to a Net Zero business, and work with a variety of stakeholders and teams to deliver operational improvements, strong analytics, and great ESG reporting. The role also has oversight of meeting charity fundraising targets.
You’ll be based from our Support Centre office in Watford (with a requirement to work in the office at least twice a week) with occasional visits to stores/distribution and supplier partners.
What you’ll be doing:
GHG Data and Carbon Accounting: Manage and analyse our GHG data sets, including calculation of annual GHG inventory, ensuring credibility and auditability of source data, and management of data into and within the GHG emissions software platform. Ensuring that the methodology meets good practice standards and adopting a continuous improvement approach to data inputs and calculations.
Strategy development and implementation: Support the Sustainability team to measure the delivery of the Responsible Business strategy across the business, tracking progress of delivery against numerical targets, and supporting the development of future targets with predictive and prescriptive analysis of future carbon forecasts on different scenario.
External reporting: Support the end of year reporting process by collating and managing data across all ESG and sustainability areas, required for external regulatory reporting requirements.
External ESG disclosures: Manage submissions to external ESG rating initiatives (CDP), and review ESG ratings, including diagnostic and predictive analysis of scores and future improvements.
Internal reporting: Collation and analysis of other non-financial data for internal reporting (e.g. quarterly responsible business dashboard) and external reporting (annual report). Collection, management and analysis of other environmental data required to support the implementation of the Responsible Business Strategy, for example, nature and waste data.
Risk and Opportunity analysis: Support the Finance team with forecasting and scenario analysis required for TCFD/transition planning/TNFD.
What we’re looking for:
The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in data analysis, covering the full range from descriptive, diagnostic, predictive to prescriptive analytics. You’ll also have:
Competent project management skills.
Expert in spreadsheet tools and other software tools that support data analysis.
Data analysis fundamentals.
Willing to expand experience and knowledge in all aspects of sustainability.
It would be desirable but not essential if you had any of the following:
Institute of Sustainability & Environmental Professionals (ISEP) membership or equivalent demonstrating competency in carbon accounting.
Experience managing large amounts of data across Scopes 1, 2 and 3.
Good working knowledge of key ESG reporting frameworks like GHG protocol, TCFD, and ESG rating systems like CDP.
